SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO-AM) All of Sioux Falls was invited to a special prayer vigil Monday Night to honor the young man killed in the downtown building collapse.
The vigil was starting at 7 p.m. at First Lutheran Church on S. Dakota Avenue. First Lutheran's Outreach Director, Jeff Backer says the prayer and reflection time was also honoring all the emergency responders who risked their lives in the rubble.
"We saw them in a very public way, work tirelessly, putting their own lives in danger, trying to save Ethan," says Backer. Ethan McMahon was working with his brother John when the old building came down around them. John McMahon was able to escape.
Ethan's mother wrote on her Facebook page that the hearts of the family are broken, but they have much to be thankful for that John survived. She wrote that the two boys loved to work together.
