Voting reminders

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - It's election eve and you're running out of time to vote absentee in South Dakota.

Secretary of State Shantel Krebs says you can absentee vote on Monday, November 7th.  She says go to your county auditor's office for early voting.  She advises all voters to be prepared because the ballot is long with state, local and federal offices to be determined and ten ballot measures

Krebs says polls will be open from seven to seven tomorrow and every single vote is important especially in local races.

Krebs says she's heard some voter frustration over the election but she reminds residents that there are a lot of very close races at the local level and every vote will count.

Krebs says the number of registered voters has risen dramatically in South Dakota.  She says turnout is always high when compared to the rest of the nation.

Voter I-D is required which can be a driver's license, passport, university photo ID, high school photo ID, tribal ID or a state issued ID.

South Dakota law allows poll watchers and observers to be present and observe the voting and counting activities.  If you feel your rights have been violated, you can call your county auditor, the Secretary of State at 888-703-5328 or your state's attorney.  Make the call before leaving your precinct.

Do not take any ballot selfies because that's a violation of state law.
