Making waves at the new pool

SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO-AM) The City of Sioux Falls and the Sioux Falls Swim Team are in a water fight at the Midco Aquatic Center.

Team boosters have been making claims in the media that the city has basically reneged on promises to use the new indoor pool facility for swim meets and other events. City Parks Director Don Kearney says those events will start next year after the brand new facility has finished a shake down cruise.

"To allow our staff to get oriented, to work out the bugs," Kearney explains to KELO Radio News. His says claims that the city was not going to allow swim meets could not be "further from the truth."

Kearney says there were attempts to inform the swim team and the parents of the plan moving forward.

"Unfortunately, I think there was some misrepresentation as to our position on this particular issue," says Kearney.
