SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - The Minnehaha County Sheriff's office identifies the victim in Friday afternoon's fatal rollover accident as 25-year-old David Ramirez Sanchez from Arlington.
Captain Mike Walsh says Sanchez was one of four passengers and a driver in an SUV that rolled northwest of Colton.
Walsh says once the vehicle started swerving and fishtailing, it went into the ditch slightly, where the wheels got caught. He says the SUV then rolled through the air at least three times.
Walsh says it's possible that the driver swerved to avoid hitting a deer.
Walsh says the driver of the vehicle was airlifted to a Sioux Falls hospital with life threatening injuries. Three of the occupants were ejected from the vehicle during the rollover. All five of them are in Arlington and their families are in Mexico.
Alcohol, drugs and speed do not appear to be factors.
