SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO-AM) - Add the South Dakota Republican Party to the list of groups opposing Amendment V, which would remove party labels on ballots and set up so-called "jungle" primaries.
In its October newsletter, the party said it's, "spending a great deal of time working to defeat one of the greatest attacks on our system in South Dakota."
Besides removing party designations, all comers would be put into a primary, if necessary. So, two Republicans or two Democrats could conceivably move on to the general election.
And stay tuned: Party executive director Ryan Budmayr says "the extent of our support for the opposition efforts are ever evolving."
