SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - According to a new report, low voter turnout of young, minority and low-income citizens makes South Dakota the worst represented state in the U.S.
Jill Gonzalez with Wallethub says young South Dakotans and minorities don't show well at the polls.
Gonzales says the state has mostly a white voting block. She says African Americans and Hispanics have a decent hold in South Dakota but they're not as well represented on election day.
Gonzales says South Dakota's usually high voter turnout represents older, white men and women.
She says the state's voter turnout doesn't mimic the state's population as a whole.
