SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO-AM) The 'Stop the Funding' group will hold a drive-thru petition drive in Sioux Falls, to uniquely gather signatures to try to get the $25 million city administration building on the ballot.

It wil be easy in, easy out.in the parking lot of the 300 Building downtown Saturday August 6 and Sunday August 7, from noon to 5 p.m.

"They don't even have to get out of their car," says activist Bruce Danielson, "We'll hand them a clipboard and a pen. They can sign the petition and drive on."

Former City Councilman Kermit Staggers recorded a robo-call that was being pushed to thousands of phone numbers in Sioux Falls, to build a crowd. 'Stop the Funding' needs all the publicity it can get because nearly 6,000 signatures have to be gathered in just a couple of weeks.

The group wants to get the controversial project on the ballot so that city voters can decide whether or not to proceed. City Council actually voted to block the bonds to pay for the project, but Mayor Mike Huether vetoed that decision and Council couldn't muster enough votes to erase the veto.

Danielson says what could be better than a drive-thru.

"It's boom and gone. People love'em.'', he says.

Ironically enough, the 300 Building where the petition drive will be held, was one of the alternative sites to building a new complex. Just coincidence, says Danielson.
