SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) -- If you're going to run for office in South Dakota, expect to drink a lot of coffee and eat a lot of pie.
But as Republican U.S. House candidate Shantel Krebs explains, not just any pie.
"Any time we're in a community and stopping at coffee shops, people love to stop by and have coffee," Krebs said. "They always order sour cream raisin pie. That's been hard to beat."
She adds with a laugh, "For all of you Norwegians and Lutherans out there, sour cream raisin pie is at the top of my list!"
Krebs joins Dusty Johnson and Neal Tapio in drinking and eating their way to the June 5th Republican primary.
On more substantive topics, Krebs says she is not a fan of federal government meddling.
"Families are saying, 'Why is government telling us how to raise our familes?'," Krebs said. "The federal government is just in the way of our lives over all. And that's why I'm going to Washington, D.C., to get government out of our lives."
Krebs also says she hears a lot on the campaign trail about the problems federal regulations cause.
"The consistent theme seems to be that the federal government is just in the way," Krebs said. "'Get the federal government out of the way of my business so I can just do my business," Krebs says she hears.
She says one local manufacturer has 170 employees, with nine of them having to handle regulatory issues.
