SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - It was social media that helped police make an arrest in the beating death of 18-year-old Arick Jonathon Strauser on East Hemosa Drive early Saturday morning.
Captain Blaine Larsen says one group of teens shot video of another group beating Strauser and posting it online.
Larsen says Strauser came upon a group of five teenagers around one Saturday morning and yelled at them which escalated into an argument and then the assualt. A 16-year-old boy is accused of severly beating Strauser with his fists and kicking him. They left him where first responders found him.
After the beating, the assailants met another group of teens and told them about the incident. It was the second group that recorded a short video and uploaded it onto social media.
A 16-year-old Sioux Falls boy is charged with manslaughter and his name is being withheld.
Larsen says there may be additional charges.
