SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Police arrested three people in connection with an armed robbery and kidnapping just after midnight Saturday at a motel on West Russell Street.
Officer Sam Clemens says the victim told police that his abductors forced him at gunpoint to withdraw money from several A-T-M's before he escaped them on a rural road near Grand Falls Casino in Iowa.
Clemens says investigators believe the victim was actually trying to buy drugs from the men and the deal turned sour. Authorities believe his story is a half-truth. They did use a gun to threaten the man to get more money.
Two suspects were caught coming into Sioux Falls from Iowa, a third was arrested at the Empire Mall and all three Sioux Falls men are charged with kidnapping, assault and robbery.
The suspects are 35-year-old Bobby Darryl Joens, 30-year-old Landon Lyndale Hale and 22-year-old Justin Ramsay Krohnke.
