WATCH: Airshow Amazing!

SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO-AM) The roar of all things winged filled the air Sunday, as the "Power on the Prairie" Airshow wrapped up it's two day run at Sioux Falls Joe Foss Field. Scattered showers skirted the area, while high clouds allowed for cooler temperatures and a light breeze was a welcome plus.

There were winged attractions for everyone of all "plane tastes", from the World War II P-51 Mustang, to the vertical takeoff AV-8B Harrier. Static displays were wide and varied, with the massive C-17 Globemaster III open, a new C-130J Hercules and Gulf War vet B-1 Bomber on the tarmac.

The U.S. Navy's "Blue Angels" demo team thrilled as usual, with solo and formation maneuvers that had spectators heads on a swivel. The teams mascot C-130 Hercules nicknamed "Fat Albert" even appeared, with low passes and maximum climb takeoffs.

The aerial gala was held in conjunction with the 70th anniversary of the South Dakota Air National Guard "Fighting Lobos" and the 75th anniversary of the US Air Force Auxiliary, Civil Air Patrol.

Event organizers call it a "huge success", and aero-fans could be seen viewing the aerial acts from off airport venues as well. The neighboring industrial park and surrounding roads were filled with folks in lawn chairs, necks cranked into the air.
