Minneapolis - The Minnesota Vikings are re-signing kicker Kai Forbath to a one-year deal, confirmed by a report from ESPN Tuesday.

Forbath joins the Vikings for a second consecutive season. He looks to help the Vikings get back to the NFC Championship and potentially a Super Bowl. Forbath became a free agent after the 2017 season.

Last season was a fairly good season for Forbath despite some extra point troubles at times. He finished ninth in the NFL in field goals with 32 made on the season. His percent was not as high as the Vikings hoped making 84 percent all field goals, which was 19th best in the NFL. Forbath's longest field goal on the season was from 53 yards.

Kai Forbath struggled with extra points during the 2017 NFL season. He made 34 of 39 field goals attempted, which was only an 87 percent success rate. Two of those attempts were blocked.

The Vikings have experienced tough luck getting complete consistency out of a kicker. Despite that, they are willing to put up with Forbath's extra point woes. That is because the ghost of Blair Walsh still haunts Minnesota after missing a field game to win the came against in Seattle Seahawk during the 2015 NFL playoffs.

Kai Forbath is 30 years old and is entering his 8th season in the NFL. Before Minnesota, he spent one season with the New Orleans Saints and four seasons as a member of the Washington Redskins with current Vikings starting quarterback, Kirk Cousins.
