SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) Sioux Falls City Councilor Theresa Stehly has sent a proposed ordinance to her fellow councilors calling for a delay in the $50 million downtown parking ramp-hotel project.
She says there are just too many questions about Legacy Development, including the recent lawsuit over the downtown building collapse.
" I would question whether any of us would proceed onward in our own personal life to take on a project with a company that has had such a questionable track record . Why would we subject our citizens to this arrangement." writes Stehly to her fellow councilors.
She says Council needs to have the courage and flexibility to readdress the issue.
A copy of the proposed ordinance is attached at the top of this story.
The family of the young construction worker killed in the Copper Lounge collapse is suing Legacy. Legacy was part of that project and is involved in the parking ramp development.
Last December, Council voted 6-to-1 to approve the project called Village On The River, and a previous repeal push by Stehly went nowhere.
Village On The River, at 13 stories, will be one of the tallest buildings in Sioux Falls.
