SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) -- The owners of what's been dubbed the 'Monster House' in McKennan Park in Sioux Falls have six weeks to submit a plan to either renovate or demolish the huge home.
Even the attorney for the next-door neighbors who brought the original suit, Scott Abdallah, acknowledges a renovation won't be easy.
"It is so out of compliance with so many aspects of the historic regulations, that it's going to be a monumental effort." But Abdallah adds that McKennan Park is entitled to action.
The new court order comes from Judge John Pekas in Canton. Abdallah says the judge also ordered that the historic regulations be attached to whatever plan the owners come up with, so there would be no confusion moving forward.
This unusual legal battled started months and months ago, when the neighbors lost the use of their wood burning fireplace because the giant home was just so close.
McKennan Park is one of the most desirable areas in Sioux Falls with many historic, older homes, surrounding the city's oldest public park.
