SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - - The Summit League tournament begins Saturday in Sioux Falls, and the attendance numbers look solid again this year.
Now in its tenth year in Sioux Falls, it has become one of the biggest mid major tournaments in the country.
Summit League Commissioner Tom Douple says their first site visit twelve years ago opened their eyes. Attendance this year could top the 70,000 mark this year, and it’s a hot ticket moving forward.
“I want you to know that we still have a couple hundred tickets left in the lower bowl….for next year,” Douple said. “I mean that’s crazy. Here we are talking about 2019, and we only have a few hundred tickets left in the lower bowl, for next year.”
Douple says Sioux Falls is the perfect fit to host the tournament.
“The staff here has done such a great job on hosting our tournament,” he said. “(They’ve helped us) get to that next level.”
