SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO-AM) Sioux Falls Canaries Manager Chris Patterson has been fired, in the midst of a nine game losing streak.
Patterson leaves, effective immediately. Former Canaries infielder Shelby Ford will take over as skipper on an interim basis for the rest of the season.
“We want to thank Chris for his hard work and efforts over the past year-and-a-half,” stated Canaries President/CEO Tom Garrity, “It was a tough decision to make, but we feel it’s time to bring in a fresh voice to lead the team through the rest of the season.”
Paterson was in his second season as field manager with the Canaries, posting a record of 56-98. After starting the season 5-0, the Canaries have lost nine straight games. They are 17-38 overall on the season.
