SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) -- With up to 3 inches of snow falling overnight, Sioux Falls Streets Chief, Galynn Huber, suggests removing your cars from the streets to avoid troubling tickets and towing expenses.
Huber reminds everyone that a snow alert kicked in at 9 AM this morning and all residential streets need to be clear for the snow plows to get through.
Huber tells KELO Radio's "It's Your Business Show" with Bill Zortman, that the plowing has been going will and the sun has been helping.
"i'm thinking we are going to have a really good push, and it should go pretty quick for us, and I think everything will be good."
The late start time may have caught many people off guard but Huber says hopefully when you stepped outside you realized a lot of snow had fallen.
"...you realized there were three inches of snow and have taken precautions."
As always, the snow alerts go by zones, and the plows will get to your street based on which zone you are in.
Zone 3:Plowing in Zone 3 will begin Tuesday, February 20, 2018, after emergency routes have been cleared. All streets in Zone 3 will be plowed. At that time, all vehicles parked in Zone 3 are subject to ticketing and towing until streets have been plowed. Zone 2:Plowing of east/west streets will begin on Tuesday, February 20, 2018. Starting at 8 p.m. all vehicles parked on east/west streets are subject to ticketing and towing until streets have been plowed or until 5 a.m., whichever is earlier. Although this is requirement is in effect only until 5 a.m., any continuing snow removal operations may impact your use of the street for parking.
Plowing of north/south streets will begin on Wednesday, February 21, 2018. Starting at 8 a.m all vehicles parked on north/south streets are subject to ticketing and towing until streets have been plowed or until 5 p.m. whichever is earlier. Although this is requirement is in effect only until 5 p.m., any continuing snow removal operations may impact your use of the street for parking.
Zone 1: Snow pickup operations in Zone 1 will begin at 1 a.m. on Thursday, February 22, 2018. Vehicles parked in Zone 1 will be subject to ticketing and towing between the hours of 1 a.m. and 6 a.m. on Thursday, February 22, 2018.
