Ugly weather headed our way

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) - We've gotten a bit of break from the frigid temps that have gripped Sioux Falls recently. But don't get used to it. Winter hasn't retreated yet, and we're in for a couple of nasty days this week.

Jim Murray at the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls says we need to enjoy the few mild days to start this week as things take a turn starting Wednesday.

"We'll start seeing the winds pick up out of the northwest, and it'll get downright windy by Wednesday night," Murray said. "That's definitely not going to help with the visibility, and after this gets out of the area, Thursday and Friday look much colder."

How much snow to hit the area is still a crapshoot according to Murray.

"There's still some uncertainty to timing and amounts," he said. "But it does look like there is the potential for some accumulating snow."
