SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) -- The South Dakota State Supreme Court has ruled against the so-called "Monster House" in the historic McKennan Park neighborhood in Sioux Falls.
The Argus Leader reports that the state's high court has upheld a lower court decision that the giant house, also dubbed by critics the "McMansion" does not meet the historical building requirements for McKennan Park.
The options seem to be to either extensively reconstruct the house or move it off the street.
Their next-door neighbors filed suit against the owners, Joseph and Sarah Sapienza, in 2015. The neighbors' complaints are many, including that they can no longer use their wood-burning fireplace because the Sapienza home is too close to the property line for safety's sake.
It's unclear how the Sapienza's will respond to the State Supreme Court ruling.
