BRANDON, S.D. (KELO.com) -- Brandon Valley High School was briefly placed on lock down Tuesday morning after a student brought a unloaded handgun to school.
It looks like the kid was trying to do a deal with another student, and had no more sinister motive.
"Reportedly, the firearm was being brought to the school for possible sale or trade of some sort between those two students." says Brandon Police Chief David Kull.
Chief Kull says the student who brought the gun to school had given it to the other student and it ws found in that students backpack.
Both students are juveniles, so no names will be released.
School officials thanked the police for getting to the high school only about a minute after they got the call.
