SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) - There's a federal criminal investigation underway involving the downtown building collapse in Sioux Falls that occurred on Dec. 2, 2016.
The Argus Leader reports that the U.S. Attorney's probe is related to the death of construction worker Ethan McMahon when the Copper Lounge fell around him in December of last year.
The Newspaper has been looking at court documents in the case. A separate OSHA investigation resulted in some $200,000 in fines against Hultgren Construction.
The Copper Lounge buildijng was being converted from a bar into a drug store by Hultgren Construction when the collapse happened. Along with the death of McMahon, the collapse also left a woman who lived in an upstairs apartment trapped under the rubble for hours.
Legacy Developments was the developer on the project.
