SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) -- The teddy bears and other stuffed animals raised in the Teddy Bear Posse have gone to their new homes with law enforcement and other first responders.

The campaign sponsored by MWC Radio and its partners garnered over 1,000 toy animals. They have been distributed to the Sioux Falls Police Department, the Minnehaha County Sheriff's Office, Sioux Falls Fire Rescue, and the SCRAM 24/7 sobriety program.

MWC Radio's Lisa Meinders was the "zoo keeper" for the event and had the job of individually bagging all the fuzzy critters.

She said she asked how long 250 bears would last the police and they said 3-4 months is all.

"Its so appreciated that anyone would think of them and take the effort." said SFPD Officer Charles Skidmore.

Because of the need, the stations might make the event an annual effort
