SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) -- Ok, let's get to the big question--what does the just released Old Farmer's Almanac have to say about our upcoming winter in the Sioux Empire?
If it's to be believed, the venerable book of advice and predictions says the area wil have a "mild, snowy" winter. Northeast South Dakota should be "mild, dry" while most of western South Dakota will be "mild, wet."
For summer 2018, Sioux Falls is on the boundary between two different weather predictions. Just to the north, the Almanac says it will be "hot, normal precip." To the south and west, it will be a lot like this summer in most of South Dakota--"hot, dry."
The publication bases its predictions on a "secret formula" devised by founding publisher Robert B. Thomas in 1792. The "formula" has been "enhanced" with modern meteorology techniques throug the years, according to the book.
