SIOUX FALLS,SD (KELO-AM) - The National Weather Service forecast is calling for cloud cover and showers on Monday, which could limit the view of the Solar Eclipse. Forecaster Kyle Weiser says there's still a chance the clouds will clear enough for a "peak" at the historic event.

Even if the weather isn't optimal, all is not lost, since eclipse enthusiasts will have a chance to get a good view on live streming events, such as the NASA coverage...click here for info on how to see it  https://www.nasa.gov/eclipselive-info

Dr. Christopher Carlisle of the Sanford Emergency Department says it's very important you have the proper protective eyewear to see the event. He tells KELO Radio that in severe cases, retina damage could leave you with a limited field of vision and black and white sight, adding  "it's just not worth the risk".

The Kirby Science Discovery Center at the Washington Pavilion at is holding an eclipse viewing...The first 200 visitors will get free Eclipse glasses with the admission price.

The Ronning Branch library on East 49th Street will also hold an event from noon til two tomorrow. The eclipse is supposed to reach its maximum viewing in the Sioux Falls area around 1 PM. If you miss this eclipse, it will be awhile...the next event is scheduled to occur April 8, 2024 following a track from the southwest to the northeast areas of the United States.
