OMAHA, Neb. (KELO-AM) -- Nebraskans are proud of their Huskers and native sons and daughters like Henry Fonda, Willa Cather, Dick Cavett, and Marlon Brando.
But according to a recent New York Times story, some Nebraskans aren't so proud of their state flag--which looks like about 20 other state flags, including South Dakota's.
Like a plurality of state flags, the Nebraska flag--like the South Dakota flag--features the state seal on a blue field. South Dakota's flag has a few additional touches, like a stylized sun and "South Dakota The Mount Rushmore State" circling the seal.
While the current flag, adopted in 1925, basically gets a "meh" from many Nebraskans, like health care reform, as The Times points out, no one can agree on a better replacement.
KELO News knows of no active South Dakota effort to change the flag, which was adopted in 1909, and revised in 1963 and 1992.
