ST. PAUL, MN (KELO AM) Planned Parenthood of Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota has announced a $6.5 million donation.
The group says the windfall will be used as part of a major expansion plan for all 19 clinics, including the one in Sioux Falls. That clinic is the only place in South Dakota where abortions are performed.
Planned Parenthood says a "very generous" unnamed couple donated the lead gift toward the three-year Facilities Expansion initiative.
“This couple has been engaged with Planned Parenthood on so many levels over the past several years,” says Sarah Stoesz, President and CEO of PPMNS, “They have supported our work, provided critically important advice and counsel and are fierce defenders of making sure women get the health care they need, no matter what.”
The big donation will allow PPMNS to move forward immediately to build a “state of the art” health care facility on the location of the current Planned Parenthood clinic in Uptown neighborhood of Minneapolis.
Planned Parenthood says the fund raising initiative will help ensure upgrades at all its clinics and will also allow the group to explore building new clinics.
