BRANDON, S.D. (KELO AM) Names have been released of the two people killed in the crash on Interstate 90 near Brandon early Saturday morning.
A 2002 Chevrolet pickup collided with a 1998 Subaru Forester. Both vehicles rolled into the north ditch.
The Subaru’s 38-year-old driver, Anna Mason, and 44-year-old passenger, Shannon Fischer, were not wearing seatbelts and were ejected. They were pronounced dead at the scene. Both are from Sioux Falls.
The third person in the Subaru, an 11-year-old girl, received serious non-life threatening injuries. Her familial relationship with Mason or Fischer is unclear.
Joshua Vortherms, 39, Adrian, Minnesota, was driving the pickup. He was not wearing a seatbelt and received life-threatening injuries. Charges are pending.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
