SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Minnehaha County Sheriff Mike Milstead identifies the 19-year-old man who drowned in Split Rock Creek in Palisades Park as Arbin Thapa of Nepal.

Milstead says Thapa jumped into the deep, icey cold creek Saturday and his body was recovered late Sunday morning.

Thapa was a student a Southwest Minnesota State in Marshall.

Milstead says Thapa was with friends and classmates who saw him jump into the creek and he didn't come back to the surface.

Milstead says they recovered Thapa's phone with his parent's information and were in contact with the Nepal embassy in Washington D.C. and were able to contact his parents and inform them of their son's death.

Milstead says foul play is not suspected and the body will be turned over to his parents.
