SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Saturday's saturation patrol by Sioux Falls police netted 163 speeding tickets between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Officer Sam Clemens says that's about 20 speeding tickets every hour. Clemens says the 17 additional officers issued a total of 285 citations to motorists during the eight hour effort.
Clemens says two drivers were arrested for driving while intoxicated.
One of the DWI arrests came in a speeding stop when police stopped a motorist driving 69 miles an hour on Russell Street.
Clemens says police would like to see much lower numbers but they reaffirm why police do saturation partrols and will continue to do them in the future.
