WATERTOWN, SD (KELO.COM) It looks like a Lake Area Tech student essentially drank herself to death in the wee hours of Tuesday morning at a small party or gathering at a house in Watertown.
"I think binge drinking is a problem nationwide when you are dealing with 18-to 20-year-olds who are away at college or school for the first time," says Watertown Police Sgt. Chad Stahl. Stahl says it appears the 19-year-old woman died from alcohol poisoning.
An autopsy is pending to determine blood alcohol content. Stahl says other people in the home at the time have been questioned. He says police have some good leads as to who actually purchased the booze.
The girl's name has not been released at the request of her grieving family.
