Yankton lawyer takes in Inauguration Day

Sioux Falls, SD (KELO AM) - Among the group of South Dakotans who took in Donald Trump's Inauguration on Friday was Yankton lawyer Jason Ravnsborg.

Ravnsborg called it a truly remarkable event, and not just because he was a Trump supporter. "Everybody was so excited, I've never seen so many make America great again hats in my life. But I thought it was a very special occasion with so many former Presidents there. Everybody was very respectful to all of them." He added that it's not every day you can see five former Presidents in one place.

And while the crowd may have been thinner than recent inaugural events, that didn't mean security was any less of an issue. Ravnsborg described the overwhelming police presence, saying he saw snipers stationed all over.

As for Trump's first words as President, Ravnsborg said he thinks it will be a preview of the administration to come. "It was brief, he got right to the point, and I think that's how his administration is going to be. He's going to get right to the point." He added that Trump's quick actions after the pomp and circumstance backed up that speech, as Trump signed several Presidential orders before attending a handful of Inaugural Balls that night.

Ravnsborg's agenda also included a stop at one of the many balls held in Downtown DC that night, where he admittedly cut up a rug himself because "Why not, you don't get to go to this everyday."

Ravnsborg made his comments during Monday's edition of the Greg Belfrage Show on KELO.
