SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - A 26-year-old man died in a two-vehicle accident late Monday morning southwest of Canistota on Highway 42.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol says a Ford pickup driven by a 64-year-old man drifted across the center line and the victim tried avoiding the pickup by moving to his right but the vehicles collided.
The victim was driving a Chevrolet pickup. He was dead at the scene. The 64-year-old man was taken to a Mitchell hospital with serious non-life threatening injuries.
Names of the drivers will not be released until family is notified.
Meanwhile...One person died in a two vehicle accident just after 11:00 Monday morning in a two-vehicle crash east of Platte on Highway 44.
The Highway Patrol says an 87-year-old woman lost control of her car, crossed the center line and collided with a car driven by a 70-year-old man.
The woman was dead at the scene and the man was first taken to Platte and then to a Mitchell hospital.
Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.
