SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - A Sioux Falls man is charged with second degree kidnapping, accused of locking his ex-girlfriend in a room of their apartment near 8th and Cleveland early yesterday morning.
Sergeant Paul Creviston says the 21-year-old woman had recently separated with 27-year-old Brandon Leisinger and was returning to the apartment to retrieve some belongings.
Leisinger arrived at the apartment after the woman got there. The two got into a physical fight and he is accused of choking her so hard that she almost passed out.
Creviston says Leisinger is accused of locking the woman into a room where she tried repeatedly to get out but he wouldn't let her leave.
After some five hours in the room, she screamed so loud that a passing cab driver heard her and called police. When police arrived Liesinger slipped out the back and officers freed the victim.
Creviston says Liesinger also charged with aggravated assault for allegedly choking the woman.
He was arrested Sunday night.
