SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Since the first of the year, 37 cars have been stolen in Sioux Falls.
Sergeant Shaun Olson says 15 alone were stolen over the three day weekend. Today is the 17th day of the New Year.
Olson says in most cases, if not all, keys were left in the ignition, doors were unlocked and the engine was running to keep the interior warm.
And, he says, a firearm left in one of the vehicles was taken as well. There has not been an arrest in any of the cases. He says only a dozen cars were stolen in Sioux Falls during the same period a year ago.
Olson says don't give thieves an opportunity.
