SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO-AM) What started as a routine visit to a parolee to make sure he was staying out of trouble turned into a major drug bust in central Sioux Falls this week.

Sioux Falls Police Spokesman Sam Clemens says parole agents found several bags of marijuana and though police should be called in for a more thorough search of the house in the 200 block of South Elmwood Avenue.

Clemens says they found nearly two pounds of methamphetimines inside a safe, a major haul.

"Most of the meth that we come across is small quantities......maybe a couple of grams, not much," explains Clemens.

Two people have been arrested. 35-year-old Joseph Lee Vrana lived at the residence, and was the target of the initial parole search. He faces the most serious charges. 24-year-old Leeson Joseph Murphy of Brookings was also charged.

Sioux Falls has been fighting a major meth epidemic with a linked increase in crime.
