SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO AM) There are reports of significant layoffs at the Badlands Pawn complex in Sioux Falls.
An email obtained by KELO Radio from a person claiming to be one of the laid off employees claimed that a "majority" of the staff have been let go.
Hailed as a pawn shop on steroids after it first opened, the Guns, Gold, and Rock & Roll complex on Russell Street is owned by PayDay Loan Magnate Chuck Brennan. Brennan has been cutting loose other parts of his financial holdings in South Dakota as a result of the 36 percent pay day loan rate cap approved by the voters in November.
There has been no official confirmation or denial from Brennan about the Badlands layoffs. KELO Radio has left messages for Brennan, but as of the writing of this story he had not replied.
