Thune on election hacking

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Senator John Thune says Congress should get involved over possible Russian influence in the U-S election process.

The CIA charges that the interference may have helped Donald Trump win and Thune says if it's true, that's totally unacceptable.

Thune says it sounds like the Intelligence Committee, perhaps in the Senate, maybe contemplating the issue in a fuller way.

Thune says there's conflict between the F-B-I and the C-I-A about who was interfering: Russia, the Democratic National Committee or the Republican National Committee.

He believes the facts that are still in dispute about this are going to have to be resolved over whatever potential type of hacking may have occurred.

While Trump says the reports are "partisan propaganda," Thune says the president-elect needs to listen to intelligence experts.

Thune says the intelligence community is a group of very skilled professionals that work hard, "maybe don't get it right everytime, but do their best."  He says we should listen to what they have to say.

President Obama asked the intelligence agencies to report on hacking related to the election.
