SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO-AM) Members of the Sioux Falls Police Department stood around like statues, frozen in place, for the Mannequin Challenge.
According to Wikepedia, the Mannequin Challenge is a viral Internet video fad that was apparently started by students in Jacksonville, Florida on October 12, 2016. Since then, all sorts of people - famous and not-so-famous - have posted increasingly complex and elaborate videos.
Sioux Falls's Finest really got into it. Even a police dog is frozen somehow. The video shows human and canine statues inside the downtown Law Enforcement Center caught in mid-assignment and outside, where the only thing moving is the winking light on a patrol car.
Police Spokesman Sam Clemens tells KELO Radio that an officer noticed the viral video and that there were very few police departments that had done anything.
It was "Just for fun." says Clemens.
