Sioux Falls keeps hammering away

SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO-AM) Booming Sioux Falls had a great November for building permits, making it even more likely to break last year's all-time record.

"The number that came in for November was $42 million, so we had another really good month and that puts us at $653 million," says City Permits Director Ron Bell. He says there is already so much in the pipeline for December that Sioux Falls should break last year's record of $676 million in construction valuation, which topped the record set in 2014.

Bell says the Sioux Falls Specialty Hospital and more construction at the Lake Lorraine development could put the city over the top. But if not, he says another eight or nine projects are still expected in December.

KELO Radio's It's Your Business Show with Bill Zortman will have a fuller discussion of the permits boom on Friday.
