SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Even as the heavy snow enters west central Minnesota, the Interstates across eastern South Dakota are scattered slush covered and slippery this afternoon.
South Dakota Department of Public Safety Spokesman Tony Mangan says plows and Highway Patrol troopers continue working I-90 and I-29 this afternoon.
Mangan says northwest winds, up to 50 miles an hour, in parts of eastern South Dakota, will be the major weather maker today. He says traffic in the northeast is moving at 40 miles an hour and that's the "safe traffic." He advises motorists to travel with lights on, don't use cruise control and wear seat belts.
Mangan says there were several reports of semi's in the ditch on both interstates this morning. He adds there were no major injuries.
He says road conditions across eastern South Dakota continue to "be dicey" even into this afternoon.
