SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Bishop Paul Swain of the Sioux Falls Catholic Diocese served as an intelligence officer during the height of the Vietnam War and will deliver tomorrow's address at the Veterans Day program.
Valerie Wilson, with the Sioux Falls Area Chamber, says the event recognizes the 50th anniversary of the war in Southeast Asia.
Wilson says the Vietnam veterans did not get the warm welcome home that they richly deserved. She says this is a way for the community to express their thanks to them.
The Master of Ceremonies is Major General (Ret.) Robert T. Bray and Senior Chief Gary Rosenberg, Chair of this year's Veterans Day program.
Ceremonies include a mass colors presentation of flags from military, veterans and service organizations in Sioux Falls and includes a performance by the ever-popular Singing Legionnaires of American Legion Post 15.
Tomorrow's Veteran's Day program starts at 10:30 at Lincoln High School. It's free and open to the public.
