SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO-AM) A bus full of Sioux Falls area law enforcement officers traveled to Des Moines Monday for the first funeral for the two Iowa cops gunned down last week.
Sioux Falls Officer Jeremy Krahn tells KSFY TV that his heart dropped when he heard about the killings.
"I think it just strikes a nerve, being that Des Moines being less than 280 miles away. It just strikes a special nerve," says Officer Krahn. He says his faith in Jesus Christ is what gets him through each day and he believes there are many other officers in Sioux Falls who would say the same thing.
All Sioux Falls police officers have been wearing black bands on their badges in honor of the two lives lost.
Sgt. Anthony Berminio and Officer Justin Martin were shot and killed last Wednesday morning in separate "ambush-style attacks." A suspect was quickly arrested.
