SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO-AM) It can be argued that the center of Cubdom in Sioux Falls during Chicago's World Series ride to the promised land has been Shenanigans Sports Bar and Grill.
Owner Don Rose was born and raised in Chicago and has been a long-suffering Cubs fan all his life. His place was packed Wednesday night when the long-deferred dream finally came true for generations of Cubs fans, living and dead.
"I was right with the crowd. We were all singing and we were all having a great time and it was a long time coming, it was a great night," enthuses Rose. He says the Sioux Falls crowd hung on every pitch, every play, as good as you could get at a sports bar in Chicago...and went wild when the Cubbies beat the Cleveland Indians 8-7 to win it all for the first time in.....how long? Who remembers now!
Rose says he called his brother in Chicago after the victory and was told that not everyone was celebrating. White Sox fans were grousing that they didn't care if the Cubs ever won another game.
Rose says he's now looking forward to another special day at Shenanigans - opening day for the Cubs, 2017. Drop by. He'll have some specials going.,
