SIOUX FALLS, S.D. ( KELO) - This is National Sandwich day and Feeding South Dakota will be a beneficiary of a donation when you buy a sub from Subway locations.
Jennifer Stensaas says when you buy a sub, you'll also get a free one and it triggers a donation to Feeding America.
Stensaas says Feeding South Dakota will get 50% from every sub purchased in the market. She says it's based on area zip codes.
Subway, in it's first fundraising attempt, hopes to donate $700,000 to Feeding America, of which Feeding South Dakota is a member. The company hopes to make National Sandwich Day the single largest meal donation day.
Stensaas says close to 200,000 South Dakotans struggle with hunger.
Feeding South Dakota Director Matt Gasson says donations made through the campaign will go a long way in helping provide meals to people in need.
