Drug dealer sentenced

SIOUX FALL, S.D. (KELO AM) - A Sioux Falls man was sentenced to ten years in prison for dealing methamphetamine.

37-year-old James Joseph Thompson was sentenced in District Court last Monday.

In August of last year, Sioux Falls police found 19 grams of meth and $26,000 cash in his home.

During the investigation authorities learned Thompson rented a storage unit in Luverne, Minnesota.  It was there where law enforcement found over 100 grams of meth and $36,000 cash.

Thompson was indicted by a federal grand on drug distribution charges in May.  He was found guilty in August after a two-day trial.

The case was investigated by Sioux Falls Police, the Rock County, Minnesota, Sheriff's Office and the Drug Enforcement Administration.

Thompson was turned over to the cutody of the U.S. Marshals Service.
