SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - A call of shots fired Saturday night on West Schofield in southern Sioux Falls turned out to be a tool tossed at a garage.
Officer Sam Clemens says an 18-year-old man was fighting with a 16-year-old boy over money. The boy's father intervened and when the suspects fled one of them tossed a hand crank for a scissors jack against the garage door. The tool left a hole in the garage door that the victims mistook for a gunshot.
Clemens says when the suspects fled the vicitm's father followed them giving police the vehicle's location over the phone.
Police found the car in a neighborhood near 85th Street and Western Avenue. The driver and two passengers fled the scene after driving into the backyard of a home and into a marsh near South Western Avenue
Clemens says 18-year-old Remey Tyrell Peterson was arrested for two counts of simple assault while the driver, 18-year-old Andrew Thomas Weber, was arrested for intentional damage to property, eluding and reckless driving.
Weber was also charged with possession of a controlled substance and marijuana.
