SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Arrests are mounting at the Dakota Access pipeline protest south of Bismark, North Dakota, and officials put out a call for help from neighboring law enforcement.

Morton County Sheriff Kyle Kirchmeier says there were 127 arrests last weekend.

Kirchmeier says the safety of everybody involved is first and that effort has been a goal since the protests began. He says it's important that the protests come to a very safe and appropriate conclusion.

Officers from South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Wyoming, Indiana and Nebraska are at the protest site.

Protesters blocked a road south of Bismark during the weekend.

A drone flying close to a state patrol helicopter was shot down.
