MAGNOLIA, MN (KELO-AM) The little town of Magnolia, Minnesota, east of Luverne, can now relax.
A man in Magnolia had been charged with a cold murder case in Pennslyvania back in 1991, but when that announcement was made days ago, the suspect was not identified at the time, so folks in town must have been looking over their shoulders.
Relax Magnolia. He's not your next door neighbor. On Friday, authorities identified their suspect as 61-year-old Charles Cook, a homeless drifter, who's lived in several states and just happened to be in Magnolia when investigators found him.
Cook faces homicide charges related to the shooting death of Myrtle McGill at her home in Indiana County, Pennsylvania in December of 1991. Investigators say they matched Cook's DNA with a cigarette butt found all those years ago in the victim's car.
