SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO-AM) - The State Theater held a silent movie on Saturday. It is the first action that the downtown theater has seen in 25 years, ending the uncertainty of what was going to happen to the last remaining jewel of downtown Sioux Falls movie venues.

The non-profit State Theater Co. has raised and spent $3 million on upgrades including a new electronic marquee. Saturday was not the official opener but gave people the chance to see all the work that has been done. All the money raised from Saturday's showing of Buster Keaton's classic "The General", will go to further restorations.
