Sioux Falls, SD (KELO AM) - Another batch of KMart stores is set to close, including one in Sioux Falls
Sears Holdings, the parent company of KMart, made the announcement today that the store on East 10th Street is one of 64 stores in 28 states that will shut off the blue light for good later this year.
The closings affect a wide range of markets - Nashville, Salt Lake City, and Los Angeles are among the biggest cities that will lose stores. Smaller markets affected include Kearney, NE, Lawton, OK, Lubbock, TX, Cody, WY, and Moorhead, MN.
Going-out-of-business sales will begin this Thursday at all 64 locations, and doors will close for good by mid-December.
No other South Dakota location is set to be closed this time, this leaves the chain with just three locations statewide in Aberdeen, Rapid City, and West 12th Street in Sioux Falls. Previous rounds of store closings have affected communities such as Huron, Yankton, Mitchell, and Pierre.
During its heyday, KMart had as many as eight locations statewide, including three in Sioux Falls.
